Lightweight PVC Cladding
At 1.5mm, a PVC sheet uses less material
than the thicker alternatives when sheet
dimensions and formulation are identical.
This can make it an option worth considering
for projects where lightweight material
is desirable.
Thin sheets require particular attention
to substrate preparation, adhesive support,
surface irregularities and potential impacts.
They should only be used where the supplier's
specifications support the intended application.
Consider carefully:
Wall flatness, installation support
and exposure to impacts.
Versatile Rigid PVC Sheets
The 2mm format provides a step up in
nominal thickness from 1.5mm while
remaining thinner than 2.5mm and 3mm
alternatives. It is available in a range
of rigid PVC wall cladding products.
For commercial and hygienic wall
applications, suitability depends on
the complete product and installation
specification. Different 2mm sheets
may have different characteristics
depending on their formulation.
Consider carefully:
Technical documentation, fixing
compatibility and cleaning requirements.
Substantial Wall Cladding
At 2.5mm, PVC cladding has greater
nominal thickness than 1.5mm or 2mm
alternatives. For the same material,
this generally means greater mass
per square metre and increased
bending stiffness.
It may be worth considering where
a more substantial sheet is desirable.
However, actual impact performance,
durability and application suitability
must still be verified for each product.
Consider carefully:
Installation handling, product
performance and total material cost.
Thicker PVC Wall Sheets
The 3mm format is the thickest
of the four sizes compared here.
For sheets made from the same material,
it uses twice the material volume of
a 1.5mm sheet of identical dimensions.
The additional thickness may be
relevant for some demanding wall
applications, but it also affects
sheet weight, handling and potentially
installation requirements.
Consider carefully:
Product-specific performance,
adhesive requirements and handling.
